Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos — Person. attribute: Creator of the regret-minimization framework · role: Co-CEO Project Prometheus
In November 2025 Jeff Bezos took an operating role again as co-CEO of Project Prometheus, an AI startup valued at $6.2 billion. It was his most significant operational commitment since he stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021. The company runs in stealth, co-founded with Vik Bajaj, a former director at Google X, and applies AI to engineering and manufacturing in computing, aerospace and automotive. The $6.2 billion of funding includes a substantial personal investment from Bezos.
Bezos ties the venture to Blue Origin, his commercial space company, with which Project Prometheus will work closely, and to a prediction that millions of people will live in space within twenty years. He envisages robots doing lunar surface work cost-effectively.
The same person turns up in a very different argument. Riley Ralmuto, rebutting Marc Andreessen's claim that introspection is a modern invention dating from around 1910-1920, lists the regret minimization framework Bezos developed among the self-examination practices of the founders Andreessen admires, next to Steve Jobs's zen meditation, Elon Musk's first-principles reasoning and Ray Dalio's radical self-awareness.
What links the two appearances is a position Bezos declines to resolve. He acknowledges an investment bubble in AI while maintaining that the benefits to society will be gigantic, an engine of civilizational abundance. He is at once the figure naming the excess and one of the people funding it, at $6.2 billion of valuation for a company whose work is not public.
