Muse
Muse — Technology. category: Meta's personal assistant, training enabled by default · context: Meta assistant launched in September 2026, blocked by Amazon as an unauthorized agent · publisher: Meta; number 1 on the App Store as of the post date
Muse launched in September 2026 as Meta's personal assistant and was, at the date of Ethan Mollick's 1 October 2026 post, the most downloaded application on the App Store. Mollick groups it with dots (OpenAI), Grok Bot, Instinct and Gemini Spark under a single label, Clawlikes: all of them extend OpenClaw, and each one has access to a computer and to its user's accounts, answers by messaging, and writes first. His own example of what that buys: Muse obtained an extension of an airline credit.
The reason the same assistant keeps reappearing is that it also produced a collision. Amazon blocked Muse from its sales site with a message describing the access as an unauthorized agent. Ryan Sarver, writing 29 September 2026, reads that incident as the opening of platform wars in which users, customers of both companies, lose purchasing, a central agent use, over a dispute they took no part in.
Sarver's second objection is the double principal. He cites Muse's terms, where training on conversations is enabled by default, and notes that an agent hosted by a platform works for its user and for the company that built it. He does not accuse Meta of hiding this.
The Oliver Wyman Forum's October report states the seller's side of the same problem: a merchant must verify the agent, the customer, and the agent's mandate. Amazon's refusal is one answer to that requirement.
